Sustainability

Our commitment to the environment

Our commitment starts from a sustainable vineyards management that takes the form of environmentally friendly practices to protect biodiversity and improve soil health, thus guaranteeing the wines quality, such as the use of green manure among the rows, sexual confusion to fight parasites and organic manure, disregarding all chemical herbicides.

Sustainable practices

Green manure
Sexual confusion with pheromones
Zero herbicides
Organic fertilization

Nutrimento naturale per il suolo e fonte di biodiversità

Green manure consists of planting specific crops such as graminae, crucifers and pulses between the vineyard rows. This system not only enriches the soil with organic substances, but it helps retaining water, protecting the soil from erosion and improving its structure. It also increases biodiversity, attracting useful insects to maintain the natural balance while also bringing to the surface essential microelements like iron and manganese, vital for vine and roots development.

An eco-friendly vine protection

In order to protect the vineyards from dangerous insects without resorting to traditional pesticides, we use synthetic pheromones that act through “sexual confusion”. This bio-control method prevents harmful insects reproduction, reducing the need for chemical treatments and favouring the proliferation of useful insects, essential for a healthy and well-balanced environment.

A sign of respect for the soil

To protect the natural biodiversity in the vineyard and reduce the environmental impact, it has been decided to avoid all chemical herbicides, opting for mechanical weeds management techniques under the row that don’t alter the soil ecosystem and favour the natural habitat of animal and plant species. An example is the use of straddle inter-row vineyard tools.

A lively and healthy soil

Organic fertilisation is a healthy choice both for the vines and the soil. It enriches the soil microbiome, making the environment favourable for useful microorganisms for the vines. Its organic composition also favours the creation of micro – and macroaggregates that improve soil structure, allowing for a better exchange of nutrients between the soil and the vine roots. This practice contributes to the plant longevity and the fruit quality.
